Krumbs Terms of Use

By using Krumbs you accept these terms. They are written to be understood on the first read.

What Krumbs is

Krumbs is an app for splitting expenses between people and keeping track of who owes what. It scans receipts so you don’t have to type them.

The service is provided by Lancelot-Project, owner of the app and of krumbs.lancelot-project.com. Full identifying details are in the legal notice.

Your account

You can use Krumbs without signing up: the app creates an anonymous account on your device. That account is yours, but it lives only on that phone: if you lose it, change phone or uninstall the app without having saved the account, that data cannot be recovered.

To keep it, save it with your email, with Apple or with Google. You are responsible for your credentials.

Minimum age

You must be at least 14 years old to use Krumbs. If you are younger, do not create an account. If we find an account belonging to a child under 14, it will be deleted.

What is expected of you

• Use the app for what it is: splitting expenses with people you know.
• Don’t upload illegal content or other people’s data without their knowledge. In particular, don’t scan receipts containing other people’s personal data that isn’t needed for the split.
• Don’t try to access other accounts’ data, or overload or tamper with the service.
• Don’t use the receipt scanner in an automated or bulk fashion.

Zero tolerance. There is no tolerance for objectionable content — insults, harassment, threats, sexual, violent, discriminatory or illegal content — or for users who behave abusively towards others. This applies to any text you write in the app: group names, expense titles, notes and your own profile name. Where it is found, the content is removed and the account responsible is suspended or deleted, without prior notice.

If you see something that shouldn’t be there

From inside the app you can report a group or a person and block anyone bothering you: blocking someone disconnects you from each other and stops any further notifications from them. You can also leave any group at any time.

If you would rather write, or want to report something those options don’t cover, use soporte@lancelot-project.com explaining what you saw and where. Every report is reviewed within 24 hours and, where appropriate, the content is removed and the account responsible is suspended or deleted. That same mailbox is the point of contact for authorities and for anyone reporting misuse of the service.

What you share with your group

When you add someone to a group or share an invite link, that person will see the group’s expenses, their amounts and who paid for what. Only share links with people you want to have that information.

Group invite links expire after 30 days, and both group and friend links can be revoked from the app at any time.

The receipt scanner

Receipt reading is automatic and can get things wrong: misreading an amount, skipping a line or confusing an item. Check a scanned expense before saving it. Krumbs is not liable for discrepancies caused by uncorrected reading errors.

Scanning depends on an external service, is limited to a maximum number of scans per account per day — higher once you sign in than as a guest — and may be restricted or temporarily unavailable.

The calculations

Balances and settlement suggestions are an aid, not an accounting record or proof of debt, and they are not financial, accounting or tax advice. Currency conversions use third-party reference rates and may not match the ones your bank applies.

Price

Krumbs is free. If paid features are added in the future they will be announced clearly, and what is free today will stay free.

Availability

Every effort is made to keep the app working, but it is not guaranteed to be available without interruption or free of errors. There may be outages due to maintenance or to provider failures.

Liability

Krumbs is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, there is no liability for indirect damages, data loss or loss of profit arising from use of the app. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that the law does not allow to be excluded, nor any rights you have as a consumer.

Ending use

You can stop using Krumbs whenever you like and delete your account from Profile → Delete profile, or by following the instructions on the account deletion page. Expenses you shared with other people will remain in their groups, because they belong to them too, and your name will keep appearing in those groups’ history as an account-less contact, so that their balances still add up. The details are in the privacy policy.

We may also stop providing the service, giving reasonable notice unless that is impossible.

Changes

If these terms change materially, you will be told inside the app before the changes take effect.

Governing law

Spanish law applies. If you are a consumer, you keep the right to bring proceedings before the courts of your place of residence and the protection of the law of your country of residence.

If you downloaded Krumbs from the App Store

These additional terms apply only to the version of Krumbs downloaded from Apple’s App Store, and they prevail over the rest of this document as far as Apple is concerned.

• This agreement is between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for Krumbs or its content.
• The licence. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use Krumbs on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules of the App Store Terms of Service.
• Maintenance and support are our responsibility. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services. Write to us at soporte@lancelot-project.com.
• Warranty. Should Krumbs fail to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. Krumbs is free, so that refund would be zero. Beyond that, Apple has no other warranty obligation, and any claim for breach of warranty is our responsibility.
• Claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims you may have relating to Krumbs: product liability, failure to conform to legal requirements, or consumer-protection and data-protection claims.
• Intellectual property. If a third party claims that Krumbs infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence and settlement of that claim.
• Export compliance. By using Krumbs you represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by it as a «terrorist supporting» country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple as third-party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right to enforce them against you as such.
